National Geographic - Lindblads tour of Alaska's inland passages

Patience is a virtue when creating artistic photographs . Waiting for the light to be just right, and results in extraordinary photographs.
This was created in camera w/o Photoshop.

  Bio

I attended the Brooks Institute which was, at the time, the best photography school in the world.* It was at Brooks that I learned that technical excellence in the creativity and craft was the only acceptable standards.  I successfully developed my 30 + year career as a professional location photographer and have worked on commercial projects nationwide**.  I have been published internationally in hundreds of brochures, POS materials and many times in print publications such as the Wine Spectator, the NY Times,  Architectural Digest, Dwell, and the Robb Report.

The new generation of Nikon digital cameras and lenses, when combined with the Sony /Nikon hybrid sensor, have dramatically reshaped this art form and now, as never before, make is possible to create high dynamic range images that are truly stunning. By utilizing the ever expanding possibilities of Photoshop / Adobe AI to “tune up” or dramatically alter an images the only limitation is our imagination. .

*One in a hundred students completed the course and one in a hundred were professional photographers after 10 years. If I had known that my chances of success were 1/10,000 I am not sure I would have chosen this career despite how much fun it is.

** Commercial Client List:
Chalk Hill Winery, Cakebread Winery, Cliff Lede Winery / Poetry resort, Alexander Valley Vineyards, Robert Young Winery, Ford Motors Co, General Motors, Stellantis / Chrysler, the Lear Corporation, the NY Port Authority, US Air, Formica, Delta Faucets, FTD, Walker Zanger Tile, Ann Sacks Tile, Kohler, Sub Zero, Wolf, Anderson Windows, Pella Windows, Marvin Windows, and kitchen cabinet companies including Wood Mode, Fieldstone, Art Craft, and SieMatic. Sorry: this is a photo taken with my phone… A new and much improved image is on it’s way.*

The ships bridge photograph was taken with a real camera and the comparison is obvious.

*Not sure if I’ll look any better but the photo will be much better.
